Ginosa is surrounded by 3 km of Gravine that was, in past centuries, the scene of a rock settlement, dug in the tuff caves.
The historic centre is dominated by the Norman Castle, erected in 1080 by Roberto il Guiscardo to defend his people against Saracen raids, and the Mother Church dedicated to the SS. Rosario.
Get lost in the narrow and cobbled alleys in Ginosa and admire views of the Gravina, the most prominent attraction of the area.
Experience Matera, 30 km from Ginosa, named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993. This town has also been awarded European Capital of Culture 2019. The Tavole Palatine (Palatine Tables) is located in Bernalda, less than 20 km from Ginosa. Here you will find the well-preserved remains of a peripteral hexastyle Greek temple, dedicated to the goddess Hera.

The Trulli of Alberobello is famous across Italy. The historic centre consists entirely of these unique, conical-roofed whitewashed structures. This peaceful part of southern Italy is the only area where you can see this. It is truly a one-of-a-kind sight.
